Hapag-Lloyd to join C-TPAT

02.08.02

Hapag-Lloyd has submitted its application to join the recently announced U.S. Customs initiative, Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism. The government-business initiative, known as C-TPAT, focuses on tightening the supply chain security as well as on improving the relationship between industry and government entities.

‘At Hapag-Lloyd we applaud this initiative, and we are fully committed to it’s implementation through-out our global organization’, said Rudy Mack, President of Hapag-Lloyd (America) Inc. ‘The past year’s events have forced us all to take a step back and look at how we are conducting our business, and to implement appropriate security measures. With the C-TPAT we can all do it in a uniform and harmonized manner’.

Through the World Shipping Council Hapag-Lloyd has actively participated in the development of the C-TPAT.
