| 24.06.03 In order to respond to the growing volumes in the Mediterranean market and to suit customers’ demand, Hapag-Lloyd Container Line will offer a new service, linking North Europe with Italy and the Eastern Mediterranean. The new service will be operated as from July 2003 together with Lloyd Triestino on their ELS service. With 4 container vessels of around 2.000 TEU capacity, the EEX offers weekly fixed day sailings. The initial port rotation is as follows:Thamesport – Rotterdam – Hamburg – Antwerp – Lisbon – Taranto – Piraeus – Istanbul – Izmir – Taranto – (Lisbon) - Thamesport. The first southbound vessel will be MS Diman II, sailing from Thamesport July 5th, the first northbound vessel will be MS Sea Arrow, loading in Piraeus July 12th. This new service extends the network Hapag-Lloyd has already established in the Med with mainline vessels connecting the eastern and western hemisphere and local Mediterranean feeder services. Furthermore it provides good connections to Scandinavian ports. |
